Remarks

Cars with a higher mileage often drive less sharp, most of the time this is caused by worn bushings, shock absorbers or springs. When the owner of such a car drives a newer car, it feels like a world of difference. With the false impression that their car was never as sharp as the newer car people often feel the need to sell their car. However, for less money you can renew or upgrade the chassis of your car so it is as sharp or even sharper than the newer car.

This Subaru Forester came to us asking if we could help him with the search for a new car. After talking with the customer and hearing what his wishes were we came to the conclusion that he was still very happy with his current car, but the ride wasn't comfortable enough and the car didn't give the right feedback. So we suggested that we would first inspect his car and give advice to what parts are worn out, before we went on a search for a new car. After inspecting the chassis we saw that here was a lot of room for improvement. So we suggested a thorough overhaul of the chassis.

The old shock absorbers and springs were replaced by an AST 4100 coilover set custom made with KCPerformance specifications to the requirement of the customer and what he expects from his car. Then we replaced all the worn rubbers in the wishbones and the rack and pinion with polyurethane Whiteline bushings. In the engine room, we installed a Whiteline strut brace to combine beauty with function.

To get the engine to run a little smoother we changed the coils and spark plugs. These were in need of replacement and the difference with the new parts was very noticeable. The windshield wipers were worn and were replaced by new ones.

After a test drive with the customer, he was convinced that his car now handles even better then the newer car that he test drove at the dealership. He was very grateful that we convinced him to renew/upgrade his car instead of buying a new car since he was still very pleased with his car with exception of the previous chassis. The car now feels trustworthy and sharp, even with a horse trailer behind it. This Forester is now a Jack of all trades and feels like a new sports car.
